Leighton Meester sometimes forgets she is married to Adam Brody

The 39-year-old star features alongside her spouse in the second season of Netflix romcom Nobody Wants This but revealed that she forgets about their relationship when she sees him performing.

Leighton told Erin and Sara Foster on the World's First Podcast: "When I watch him in anything he does, I really do forget it's him. And then I'll look over and be like, 'Oh right, that's my husband.'

"When I was watching this season, I was so invested in their relationship I had to look away so I wouldn't cry before work."

The Gossip Girl makes a guest appearance in a season two episode as a childhood friend of Joanne (Kristen Bell) and explained that felt "at ease" acting alongside her husband of 11 years - who portrays Joanne's love interest, rabbi Noah Roklov, in the show.

Meester said: "I feel so at ease and so comforted and relaxed and I feel like he's encouraging me unconsciously and then I feel him thinking good things.

"I just feel very comforted. Adam too, he does come home and really have nice things to say about everybody and... feels very at home and safe there, too."

Kristen previously hailed Leighton's appearance in the episode and admitted that she was surprised by her comedic abilities.

She told Entertainment Weekly: "I know Leighton's extremely talented, but I did not anticipate what a comedic sniper she was gonna be. She is effervescent in that episode."

Adam previously revealed that he and Leighton - who have two children together - act as "each other's managers" and don't take on new roles without discussing the projects with one another.

He told Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast: "Everything is run through each other.

"We are each other's managers, and we also have the same two agents... We are in each other's s*** in that way, and we even did a movie together a couple of years ago."

The couple, who met on the set of 2011 rom-com The Oranges, have worked together on a number of projects and Adam hailed his wife as a "poet" for the "depth" she brings to her roles.

The 45-year-old actor explained: "She's charmingly aloof to the business. She will literally not know Seth Rogen's name, you know what I mean? ... It's f****** great, because it doesn't diminish her art.

"That's not where she's focusing, and so she has that outsider quality, and she can come in, but she's such an artist.

"She's a poet, she has a depth and a read on material that is always illuminating and has a great radar.

"And so she can still get at the heart of something, a script, no problem, but it's for me to look at the cover letter and go, 'You're doing this or not.'"
