Claire Foy says juggling acting and motherhood is a "s*** show"

The 41-year-old actress shares daughter Ivy, 10, with former husband Stephen Campbell Moore - and Claire admitted that acting isn't "conducive to having a family".

She told Harper's Bazaar UK's February issue: "'I mean... having a job and being a parent is a logistical s*** show - that's the truth of it.

"When it comes to making films and TV shows, the hours aren't conducive to having a family - so there's a lot of juggling and a lot of hoping for the best."

Claire also spoke about ageism in the entertainment industry and said women between 45 and 60 suffer the most.

She explained: "I think the industry struggles with women between the age of 45 and 60. They don't really know what to do with them.

"They're like - 'Who are you? You're not a mother. Are you a mother? Or are you a grandmother?'

"I've always felt that it's my responsibility to play the women I know and like, who are out there... And if I'm able to do that, I will."

Meanwhile, Claire revealed she is "vitriolic" in her hatred of social media.

She said: "I am vitriolic in my hatred of it.

"There has to be some sort of medium where it enhances and makes life better, not just much worse - and I don't really think that's happening at the moment.

"It's very strange to watch these things happen from the outside - to see that everything is changing, and I don't feel I'm changing with it.

"What I believe and who I am and where I stand on things is constantly in flux, as much as it is for everyone else, and I have absolutely no authority to discuss or proclaim about anything other than what I do as an actor.

"If you're just making noise for the sake of it, then you should probably shut up - so I tend to shut up."
