Sir Rod Stewart has taken up boxing after his knee replacement

The 'Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?' hitmaker recently had the surgery to have his knee replaced as well as an ankle fusion and has now limited his alcohol intake and taken up the fitness regime

Speaking on The Harry Redknapp Show podcast, he said: "I've just had a full knee replacement and I've also had an ankle fusion – all thanks to football. I like to box on the big bag in my gym, but after a gig these days, I'll order four or five bottles of red wine, a bottle of Bacardi, it's mostly for the band. They always come back to my dressing room for a celebration after every gig."

The 76-year-old singer has been open about his health issues and in the past, he previously revealed he has beaten prostate cancer after a secret three-year battle.

He said: "Two years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

"No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody. I'm in the clear, now, simply because I caught it early. I have so many tests. If you're positive, and you work through it and you keep a smile on your face. I've worked for two years and I've just been happy, and the good Lord looked after me. Guys, you've got to really go to the doctor."

And Rod also battled thyroid cancer and admits it was a "terrible shock" getting the diagnosis.

He added: "There's always thought, 'I'm gonna live forever,' like you do. And all of a sudden, you realised you can't, and it can strike anybody any age, no matter who you are, it can cut you down ... I was looking for new employment – landscape gardener, or antique dealer."
