An Auckland resthome worker has tested positive for Covid-19 - and may have Omicron

The staff member from Summerset by the Park Rest Home in Flat Bush is associated with the Nelson family who caught Omicron.

Genome sequencing is being carried out to identify the strain - and visitors, staff and residents at the facility are being tested.

There are 24 new community cases in total today -- with 16 in Auckland, two in Northland, one in Waikato and five in Rotorua.

Yesterday, more than 40-thousand Covid-19 vaccine booster doses were administered -- and just eight virus patients are in hospital.
