A relative of a murdered five-year-old says she had fears about his welfare before his death

There are calls from groups, including Women's Refuge, for a statutory obligation to report child abuse -- after the killing of Malachi Subecz by his carer.

The child's daycare failed to report extensive injuries to police or child protection services in the month before he died.

An anonymous caller claiming to be related to Malachi says she reported concerns to Oranaga Tamariki, family courts and his daycare.

She says while they didn't have any proof of issues .. she had a gut feeling something wasn't right.
