    Whistleblowing is on the rise

    Whistleblowing is on the rise

So far, this financial year, the Ombudsman has had 58 per cent more protected disclosures than last year.

In a recent Ombudsman run survey, 66 percent felt their job wouldn't be safe if they reported serious wrongdoing as a witness.

Chief Ombudsman Peter Boshier says he has sensitivity towards those fearing retribution for disclosing anything - as it lets people keep doing unsafe and wrong practices.

He says his ideal is to raise people's confidence so they feel safe to disclose.
