French prosecutors are seeking the longest possible sentence for Dominique Pelicot

French prosecutors are seeking the longest possible sentence for Dominique Pelicot

The 71-year-old is due to be sentenced next month, for organising the repeated mass rape of his then-wife by knocking her unconscious with drugs and inviting dozens of strangers to abuse her in their bed.

Fifty other men have been standing trial for their involvement.

Public prosecutors want Pelicot to receive the maximum possible sentence of 20 years.

They say while that sentence is "a lot", it is also too little, given the seriousness of the acts that were committed and repeated.
