A former social media influencer who managed to keep his criminal charges secret for almost five years, can finally be identified as David Chai Pegler

The 37-year-old was known for fashion-related posts and photography under the name David Grr .

He was sentenced today in the Auckland District Court for the abuse of a friend who awoke one night in 2007, to find Pegler performing a sex act on him.

Pegler pleaded guilty late last year.

He's already in prison and is two years into a nine-year sentence for abusing two other teen boys on separate occasions.

An additional nine months was added to that today.
