Chelsea Handler has insisted her mystery man isn't the "main character" in her life

The 50-year-old comedian - who split from fellow comic Jo Koy in 2022 - has opened up on her romance and confirmed she's been dating her current partner for "nine months"

Appearing on 'The Jamie Kern Lima Show', she said: "I don't think any relationships I've been in [have been] serious... I think of myself as a purpose person.

"Like my purpose is here, to be here to have conversations like the one we're having right now, to infuse people with optimism, to be there for women, that is my purpose in this life, whether they're more lives or not...

"All I know is I know what I'm supposed to be doing, and any man that's in my life is not the main character.

"That's a side relationship, and I love them, and I want to respect everybody, but that's not my main M.O. in life. I'm not that kind of person."

Chelsea, who insisted she is not a "relationship person", still described her current romance as a "nice little thing".

She added: "I have someone that I'm seeing now that I'm very attracted to and that I like having sex with, and so that's a really good like nice little thing I have going."

Last month, Chelsea declined to give any specific details about her partner after experiencing public scrutiny in her last relationship with Jo.

Speaking on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast, she said: "I've been down that road before with having a public relationship, my last relationship.

"It's more out of respect for their privacy. I don't want him to have to be exposed to my world."

The former 'Chelsea Lately' host did reveal her new man is someone she met "a long time ago" but things only turned romantic between them last year.

She said: "I invited him to Mallorca on a trip with a group of friends... I've known him for years. I've always been attracted to him, but he was not available. I always have wanted someone like him in my life.

"He's sweet and so caring and completely sees me and understands that I am not available a lot.

"My life is pretty crazy, and he appreciates that. He's around when I want him to be. He's great."
