Alec Baldwin found it much harder "being himself" on his reality show than acting on set

The 66-year-old actor and his wife Hilaria put their family life in the spotlight for new reality series 'The Baldwins', and he admitted he was worried about seeming "dull" by acting naturally

Asked which was more difficult - being himself on the show or remembering a script - he told Extra: "Be yourself. Oh, it's so hard, it's so hard... because you don't want it to be dull...

"We like routine, it's good for the kids to have a routine and she, as a mother, is very good at keeping them on a routine, so you feel the desire to make it more silly."

Hilaria, 41, joked that her husband was trying too hard at time, so they "just cut all that part

    out".

She added: "It's all about routine, and every day we strive to be boring and then, like, unboring things happen to us as they do with seven children."

The Hollywood couple are parents to Carmen, 10, Rafael, eight, Leonardo, seven, Romeo, six, Eduardo, three, María Lucía, also three, and Ilaria, 21 months.

Hilaria noted they are yet to make a decision on a potential second season of the show.

She said: "This is a really raw show and it's very real and we took a lot of chances and... we'll see where it leads us.

"We'll see what it feels like to have it the out there, and then we'll see if people like it.

"It feels very cathartic to have everything be out there."

The show has been criticised by Halyna Hutchins' family lawyer as a "veiled attempt to create sympathy" for Alec.

The programme is being aired ahead of civil cases for the accidental killing of the cinematographer, via a loaded prop gun, on the set of the Western 'Rust' in October 2021.

The 83-year-old attorney has been quoted by the Metro newspaper as saying: "The show celebrates Mr. Baldwin's joy of being with his children while ignoring the fact that he took a child away from her parents.

"That is the painful reality with which Halyna's parents and sister live with each day.

"Is his reality show just a veiled attempt to create sympathy for himself with a future jury pool in our civil case?

"Is this just a shameless attempt to portray himself as the real victim in this case?"

In the show, Alec claimed he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) - a mental health condition that is brought on by an extremely stressful or terrifying event.

The actor has previously insisted that he did not know that the prop gun he was handed was loaded and denies pulling the trigger.
