Jax Taylor thinks Brittany Cartwright can't get over her "anger" at their past

The 'Valley' star - who has been sober for more than three months and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder while in rehab - suggested co-parenting three-year-old son Cruz with his former spouse isn't always easy and he wishes she would recognise how much he has been trying to change for the better

Asked about co-parenting, Jax told E! News: "It's day by day right now.

"I've done so much work on myself and I feel Brittany doesn't see the work sometimes or she's just very angry about the past and can't look towards the future and see that I am bettering myself."

Cruz was diagnosed with autism last October but the news was only made public last week, and Jax is keen to do as much as he can to support organisations that help those with the condition and their families.

He said: "He's everything to Brittany and I and we want to give him everything we possibly can to thrive in this world. We decided to come out with it because I want to be part of anything autistic, I want to be in charities, I want to be involved, how can I help?"

The 45-year-old star admitted he cried with relief when he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder because he had always known something was "wrong".

He said: "I've known for a very long time there was something going on in my brain.

"I was diagnosed with ADD at a very young age and then when I went to rehab the first time, I broke down and I was close to rock bottom but they were like, 'You are diagnosed with bipolar too, you also have a little bit of OCD'.

"It was very hard coming out but it was such a relief, I cried my eyes out because I know what's wrong, finally, someone give me some medication please, I can fix this."

Brittany recently admitted she finds it hard co-parenting with Jax because she no longer trusts him.

She told People magazine: "He's done so much damage, and me and Cruz weren't enough for him to get help for a very long time. I want his dad to be in his life, but it's just really hard when you can't trust somebody. It's going to take me a long time to regain trust in him, and that makes co-parenting extremely hard.

"I can just hope and pray that one day he will completely knock this, because I'm not sure yet."

Brittany claimed to have been "blindsided by love" and overlooked Jax's issues for some time.

Speaking about the lead up to the separation, she added: "It got so bad, and he was just so aggressive and horrible to me, yelling at me in front of our son [Cruz]. I had to take Cruz out of the house.

"I get a lot of hate online, like, 'She knew what she was getting into,' but I was blinded by love. Nobody could ever say that I wasn't madly in love with that man, because I was. The point is that I did leave him, and I'm so much stronger and happier now. If I can help one woman get out of a toxic relationship, then I have won."
