A Coroner is expected to look into the days following a convicted rapist's release from prison

A Coroner is expected to look into the days following a convicted rapist's release from prison

The inquest into the death of Juliana Bonilla-Herrera at the hands of her neighbour Joseph Brider in January 2022, opened yesterday.

He'd been paroled just 72 days earlier.

Senior Herald reporter Anna Leask says the Coroner is aiming to find out what went wrong here.

She says they'll also look to make a recommendation or comment to try to prevent further deaths in the future.
