A series of alleged homicides in Northland has seen an extra 90 officers flown in since May

A series of alleged homicides in Northland has seen an extra 90 officers flown in since May

The teams have been brought in from around the country to work five week shifts.

Northland District Police Commander Matt Srhoj says nine alleged homicides this year have taken them by surprise.

He says the extra staff have allowed them to take on a greater workload.

Srhoj says they've been investigating adult sexual assault and child protection cases.
