Alan Cumming has broken RuPaul's lengthy winning streak at the Emmy awards

The 59-year-old actor was named Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality Competition Program at the first night of the Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday (07.09.24) for his work on 'The Traitors' , beating the 'Drag Race' host, who has scooped the accolade over the last eight years.

Alan wasn't at the event at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles to take home his statuette, having also seen off Jeff Probst from 'Survivor', 'Top Chef's new presenter Kristen Kish and 'Shark Tank's Barbara Corcoran, Mark Cuban, Robert Herjavec, Lori Greiner, Daymond John and Kevin O'Leary to win the award.

Meanwhile, Dick Van Dyke became a joint record holder as the oldest winner of a Creative Arts Emmy at the age of 98 when he took home the prize for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for 'Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic).

The 'Mary Poppins' actor - who ties with Norman Lear, who won an award for his own special in 2020 - showed off his dance movies as he got up on stage to accept the award.

He told the audience: "Thank you, that reception, I cannot tell you what it means. I'm 99 next month."

He then gestured to his wife Arlene Silver, who had joined him on stage as she produced the special, and said: "The young lady who got this award, you may think of the word nepotism and I would understand it, but this lady got the job all by herself as producer of the Dick Van Dyke special because she knows me inside and out, and knows how I work, and don't take no sass from anybody. Arlene Van Dyke!"

Arlene said: "Thank you so much. It is a honour to spend my life with you... We got four nominations that put love, heart and soul into the show. To honor you, you've created endless joy and playfulness for generations to come."

Pat Sajak, who retired in June 2024, was given the award for Outstanding Host of a Game Show for his final season of 'Wheel of Fortune'.

However, the presenter - who began working on the show in 1981 - wasn't in attendance to accept his first Emmy in 26 years. He previously won the award in 1993, 1997, and 1998, and was given a Lifetime Achievement Honour in 2011.

Other notable winners at the event included 'Jeopardy!', which won the Outstanding Game Show prize, 'Only Murders in the Building', which took Outstanding Short Form Comedy, Drama or Variety Series, 'Shark Tank' and 'Welcome To Wrexham', which won the prizes for Structured and Unstructured Reality Program respectively.
