'Beavis and Butt-Head' is returning as a "reimagined" TV series

Creator Mike Judge has signed a deal with Comedy Central to bring back the titular teenage delinquents for two full seasons as well as spin-offs and specials

Judge will once again be voicing the two characters as well as being onboard as writer and producer through his Judge and 3 Arts Entertainment company.

The new incarnation will see Beavis and Butt-Head step away from the couch and their critiques 90s music videos and step into the new world of Generation Z.

Announcing the new show, Chris McCarthy, President of Entertainment & Youth Group at ViacomCBS, said: "We are thrilled to be working with Mike Judge and the great team at 3 Arts again as we double down on Adult Animation at Comedy Central. Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation, and we can’t wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own."

Judge added: "It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again."

'Beavis and Butt-Head' began life in animated short 'Frog Baseball' which aired on MTV's Liquid Television in 1992 before landing their own series on MTV which ran from 1993 to 1997.

Judge's show was praised for its satirical take on social issues in America but was also criticised for its lewd humour and use of violence.

The characters appeared in their own movie in 1996, 'Beavis and Butt-Head Do America', and it was revived for a one-off series in 2011 by MTV with the two friends criticising reality shows on their sofa as opposed to music videos.
