There's promising data on the benefits of giving the Covid jab to children over five

Health experts are looking at the evidence -- before it's put through the regulatory approval process, a technical advisory group, and the Cabinet.

Thirteen babies and 253 children under 12 have tested positive in the current Delta outbreak.

Developmental paediatrician Dr Jin Russell says the data from Pfizer is yet to be peer-reviewed, but it's positive news.

She says Pfizer's reported the antibody response in children is similar to those in older age groups.
