Eva Longoria and Meryl Streep's family connection left their 'Only Murders In The Building' costar-s "confused"

The 'Desperate Housewives' star will be part of the upcoming fourth season of the murder mystery comedy series, and she will be reuniting with her distant relative Meryl after finding out they shared recent ancestry after 2010 docu-series 'Faces of America'

Speaking to DuJour magazine, she laughed: "We actually call each other 'cousin'. We'll say, 'How are you, cousin?' and 'I'm good, cousin.'"

Not everyone was aware of their familial relationship on 'Only Murders', and it was a shock to everyone when Meryl referred to Eva as her cousin during the first Zoom table read.

Eva added: "She tells the story and everyone's so confused, because I'm the most Latina person in the industry and she's Meryl Streep."

The 49-year-old actress has loved working on the show, and she admitted the whole cast and crew felt like family.

She revealed "We talked a lot about democracy and politics. But when you have leaders like Steve Martin and Martin Short, you're never not laughing.

"Watching them make a lunch order is a show in itself. It's a constant roast about a sandwich, a 30-minute comedy about mustard."

Keeping it in the family, Eva enjoys taking her five-year-old son Santiago - who she has with husband Jose 'Pepe' Baston - to work with her, and he is already very familiar with the language used in TV and film production.

She recently told Britain's HELLO! magazine: "He has been on every set I have been on.

"When I direct, he is right there. When I act or produce, he is there.

"He knows how to shout 'Action!' and 'Cut!'

    "He loves it."

Eva became a household name playing Gabrielle Solis in 'Desperate Housewives' and she's thankful fame came relatively late in life for her.

She said: "I was older when I became favour - almost 30 - so I had a deep understanding of who I was.

"If you don't and if it comes too young, it can define you. You have to really remember who you are.!
