Aucklanders can expect another foggy start to the day tomorrow

A blanket of thick fog forced cancellations or delays for almost 70 flights in and out of the city this morning.

MetService says conditions will be similar on Tuesday, and Wellington will be windy - with spells of rain.

Meteorologist John Law says further south, Christchurch will get the best weather to start - before showers in the afternoon.

He says heading through Tuesday, wet weather will continue to move northwards, ahead of strengthening north-westers, particularly across eastern and central parts.
