House prices are picking up in some parts of the country, and continuing to slide in others

House prices are picking up in some parts of the country, and continuing to slide in others

Latest figures from the Real Estate Institute show the national median house price has dropped 0-point-6 percent in the year to August.

Auckland is pushing down the national median price -- recording a 4-percent drop.

It's a different story in several other regions -- Canterbury up 0.5 percent, and Wellington up 3.9.

While more properties are being listed, fewer properties are being sold.
