The burden of healthcare-associated infections in public hospitals, has been laid bare

The burden of healthcare-associated infections in public hospitals, has been laid bare

A paper by the Health Quality and Safety Commission estimates they cost the health care system more than 950-million dollars in 2021.

Microbiologist Arthur Morris says the infections caused more disability than road crashes - which are given a lot of attention.

He says we need to focus on these and make sure every patient, every time, gets the correct care so we reduce these infections.
