A fire investigator is at the scene a suspicious blaze at an abandoned Canterbury Hospital

Four fire trucks and a tanker responded to the fire on the grounds of Queen Mary Hospital in Hanmer Springs just before 4am.

Fire and Emergency say the building was well ablaze on arrival - but it's now out with crews tackling hotspots.
