Liam Payne's father is helping Argentine authorities with their investigation into his son's death

Geoff Payne arrived in Buenos Aires on Friday (18.10.24), two days after the former One Direction singer's fatal fall from the balcony of his room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel and after sources claimed a partial autopsy found "multiple substances" in the 'Strip That Down' hitmaker's system when he died, the aerospace engineer has agreed to do what he can to assist with the ongoing probe into his son's passing

A statement from the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 14 obtained by People magazine stated Geoff had "expressed his desire for an investigation and knowledge of what happened and expressed to the prosecutor his willingness to testify about everything he knows about his son's life, which can help the investigation".

He will be "accompanied by a police official until his judicial formalities have been completed."

The authorities are looking into evidence on Liam's phone, computers, photographs and videos on his camera.

The statement added: "With respect to the victim, all information gathered from the investigation will first be given to the family, and given his public exposure, communication will be limited to all institutional channels.

"At the same time, testimonials are being accepted to reconstruct his final hours at the scene, a process that continues with the hotel staff, acquaintances, medical and technical professionals, and other people linked to the victim through his work."

Liam's body will stay in Argentina until all reports are completed.

Because he was a British citizen, the UK government have been informed of the legal proceedings.

Geoff, his wife Karen and their daughters Nicola and Ruth previously issued a statement reflecting on the loss of Liam.

It said: "Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.

"We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time."
