Anna Kendrick refuses to get "involved with a man" who hasn't been to therapy

The 39-year-old star - who has been open about being in an abusive relationship for seven years - has revealed she is currently single, while laying out clear parameters for any potential partners in the future

Appearing on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast, she said: "I'm never getting involved with a man - meaning we're not even kissing, we're not even going to have a real conversation - unless you are in or have been in therapy."

The 'Pitch Perfect' actress and her ex - who she has never identified publicly - went to couples therapy before they broke up.

She recalled: "I always felt like I was trying to stay so calm in couples therapy because I was like, f***, in these sessions, he's so able to kind of stay calm in a way that he does not do when we're outside of therapy."

However, in one specific session, Anna remembered how she "lost [her] s***", and she was worried about any repercussions.

Explaining her mindset at the time, she said: "I'm trying so hard to appease this person, they're so f****** awful. So how bad is it gonna get now that I've yelled?"

She added that "weirdly, he was fine" after the incident.

Elsewhere in the interview, Anne revealed her therapist actually "bought his stuff kind of hook, line, and sinker" during their early sessions, and has later "apologised" after starting to understand the situation "toward the end".

The 'Twilight' star said: "I've had several sessions with him in the last several years where he's apologised to me because I think he realised what was going on, like, right toward the end."

Anna previously said figuring out what "really happened" with her ex was "the hardest task of my adult life".

She told PEOPLE magazine: "My body still believes that it was my fault. So even with this concrete jumping off point for me, to walk out of that relationship knowing that I wasn't crazy - it's incredible the way that recovery has been so challenging."
