McDonald's Quarter Pounder burgers have been linked to 75 cases of E. Coli in the US

The number of hospitalisations has risen to 22 - one elderly patient has died in Colorado.

Several McDonald's restaurants across mainly the western US have temporarily pulled the burger from their menus.

Investigators have yet to confirm a specific ingredient as the contamination source, though they are assessing whether it could be onions or beef patties.
