    Meanwhile more carpark updates for shoppers and sightseers further south.

    Queenstown Lakes District Council will be opening a temporary 54 space paid carpark on Queenstown's Stanley Street on Friday till after Waitangi Day, while the 102 space Lakeview carpark continues to be available.

    Temporary free parking will also be an option at Queenstown Primary School for a five weeks from Saturday, and the Showgrounds in Wanaka from this week to January 12.
