Jesse Eisenberg has shunned social media because he fears he'll "say something inappropriate"

The 41-year-old actor played Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in 'The Social Network' in 2010 - but Jesse has never been interested in using social media platforms in real life

He told The Times newspaper: "I'm not on that stuff for a few reasons.

"One is that I'm already a public person. I spent an hour talking to you about my family and that is already unnatural. So I don't then have a need to go on Twitter. 'Why am I still talking about myself? Shut the f*** up!'

"Also, I would say something inappropriate, because I don't have fully formed thoughts. But I'm good at writing characters with whom I can explore my philosophies in a way that doesn't feel didactic or that I know more - because I truly don't."

Jesse has already enjoyed some huge successes during his career. But the actor is fully aware that fame and success can be precarious.

He reflected: "Look, I'm in an unstable industry that doesn't care if you live or die. There's no stability, so if I continue to be busy? Amazing. Also, I get my health insurance through my union."

Meanwhile, Jesse previously claimed that he has a "sixth sense of personal protection".

The Hollywood star has always been guarded about his personal life, and he confessed to being very cautious about what he shares with the public.

Jesse told The Times newspaper in 2020: "As a person who's in the public eye a bit, I'm extra careful about saying things about myself, or putting a picture somewhere of my family.

"I have this kind of sixth sense of personal protection that the average person wouldn't have had to develop."
