A jury has taken just four hours to find a 26-year-old guilty of murder - for a shooting on Auckland's Queen Street in 2023

Lawyers for Dariush Talagi's say he was defending himself and a disabled relative - during an unprovoked attack by drunken thugs.

CCTV footage shows him getting up from the beating, striding to Sione Tuuholoaki and firing at his head.

Prosecutors concede the group shouldn't have yelled insults at Talagi but say none of their actions should have resulted in gunfire.

He's also been found guilty of wounding another victim with intent.

He'll be sentenced in April.
