Harvey Weinstein has claimed Hollywood filmmakers still ask him for "notes" on their scripts

The disgraced producer - who is currently in jail after being found guilty of sex crimes - has insisted there are still people in the movie industry who come to him for advice on their work

In an interview with Candace Owen, he said: "I have friends who are still in the industry who slip me their screenplays and ask me for notes. "You know, can I do something for it? Can I help? Can I improve it? And I just give them my honest thoughts.

"So I'm not doing anything for me, but I'm doing things for others."

More than 80 women have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct since 2017

Weinstein, 72, is currently serving a 16-year sentence after being convicted on rape and sexual assault charges in Los Angeles in 2022.

He is also awaiting a retrial after his 2020 convictions in New York for first-degree criminal sexual assault and third-degree rape were overturned.

In April 2024, the New York Court of Appeals vacated Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction, ruling the inclusion of testimony from three women not involved in the charges prejudiced the jury.

Elsewhere in the new interview from jail, Weinstein has claimed he was "wrongfully convicted".

He said: "I hurt my family. I hurt my friends. I cheated on my wife. And that was a mistake, you know, a terrible mistake.

"But I did not commit these crimes. I swear that before God, and the people watching now, and on my family."

Last month, a judge allowed Weinstein to be moved from Rikers Island to Bellevue Hospital for the time being during his ongoing criminal retrial, as his legal team previously cited serious medical conditions.

In a separate development, Weinstein was indicted in September on an additional charge of sexual assault.

The allegation stems from an incident said to have occurred in a Manhattan hotel between 29 April and 6 May 2006. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
