Te Pati Maori is backing Act - on a Bill aiming to ban sexually explicit deepfakes

Te Pati Maori is backing Act - on a Bill aiming to ban sexually explicit deepfakes

Act's Laura McClure held up an AI-generated naked photo of herself in Parliament, to highlight how easily concerning images can be quickly made of anyone.

McClure says it's not often Act and Te Pati Maori agree, but the Party clearly cares about this - and has worked constructively on the issue.

She's asking other MPs to support her Bill, so it can bypass waiting to be drawn from the biscuit tin of Members' Bills, and be urgently debated.
