Prince Harry found visiting Disneyland with his children "[brought] out the kid in" him

The Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, celebrate Princess Lilibet's fourth birthday earlier this year to the California theme park with their daughter and her older brother, Prince Archie, and the 41-year-old royal got a lot of pleasure from seeing the youngsters' excitement from the minute they arrived.

Appearing on The Happiest Story on Earth: 70 Years of Disneyland - A Special Edition of 20/20 on Sunday (21.09.25), Harry said: "They're like, 'This is amazing!' Like, 'Guys, this isn't even the front of it. Prepare yourself. You're about to be blown away.' ...

"To see the kids throw themselves into these experiences when they have no idea what they're walking into - it was amazing. And it brings out the kid in you again."

The family celebrations included treats, a Little Mermaid birthday cake, and going on rides, and a photo shared on the special showed Harry and Meghan yelling while riding Space Mountain, the 41-year-old prince's favourite ride since childhood.

He said: "I went round and round and round - 10, maybe 12 times."

The couple also reminisced about their childhood memories of the Disney theme parks, with Harry making a trip to Disney World in 1993 when he was eight years old with his late mother Princess Diana and older brother Prince William.

He said: "I went with my mom and my brother. I remember it very, very well.

"I remember losing it as a kid with all the characters. Like, losing it."

As a "southern California girl", former actress Meghan noted visiting Disneyland was "more accessible" for her but still "the biggest treat in the world".

The 44-year-old duchess had particular fond memories of going to the theme park for grad night, when the attraction is opened up after hours for high school seniors.

She said: "I don't even know why they let us do that!"

Harry added: "That sounds like a lot of fun. Can you do that in your forties?"

The TV special - which marked Disneyland's 70 years of operation - also included interviews with the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis, Neil Patrick Harris and Tiffany Haddish.
