A sexual predator accused of approaching Christchurch schoolgirls while on parole, will remain behind bars

A sexual predator accused of approaching Christchurch schoolgirls while on parole, will remain behind bars

Police sent letters to 11 schools in Merivale and St Albans area last month, warning of the man's behaviour.

The 53-year-old arrested was revealed as Leo Darin Goodwin - who has multiple convictions for violence and rape in New Zealand and Australia, dating back to the 1990s.

He was subject to a preventive detention order at the time.

He's due in court next month, charged with breaching parole conditions.

RNZ's reporting the parole board made a final recall order yesterday, on the grounds he poses an undue risk to the safety of the community.
