The sister of a man who died in the fatal Loafers Lodge fire was in tears as the verdict was delivered in the High Court at Wellington

50-year old Esarona Lologa was found guilty of five counts of murder after 17 hours of jury deliberations.

Renowned Wellington busker Mike Wahrlich - known as Mike the Juggler was killed in the blaze.

Speaking outside the court, Margaret Wahrlich thanked everyone for their support and spoke of Mike's legacy.

She says the city has lost a real "darling" of a person who meant a lot to many.
