A  27-year-old woman accused of putting a toddler in a suitcase in a bus luggage compartment in August - is now on electronically monitored bail

She was charged with neglect after the child was discovered on a bus travelling from Whangarei to Auckland - reportedly hot, but unharmed.

Judge Nicola Mathers has today granted the woman permanent name suppression - and remanded her on bail until a hearing in December.

The woman's mental fitness and ability to stand trial were raised when she appeared in August.
