Erin Doherty is "mind blown" by Louis Vuitton wanting to work with her

The Adolescence actress has been dressed by the fashion house for many red carpet events and she still finds it "surreal" that they want to play such a key part in her public persona.

Asked how she feels working with Louis Vuitton, she told HarpersBazaar.com: "So, so, so surreal!' It was an organic thing. You wear lots of different brands, you try different things on for size, and then it just kind of fell into place. It feels really special.

"Every time I go in there, I'm literally like, 'thank you so much!'.

" I'm mind blown that they would want to work together. I'm pinching myself that it's happening."

Erin believes fashion is "so important" because what people wear impacts on the first impression they make.

She said: "It's huge. Like, it's the first thing we see, whether we like it or not. No matter how wonderful a human being you are, we judge people by what we first see. I think fashion is so important in that sense. I think I've really learned as time's gone on to just accept that and to go, 'Okay, well, how do I choose for people to see me today?'.

"Your message that you choose to send out there on a day to day basis may change, but as long as you're a part of choosing that message, it's ok. That's been the real lesson for me in fashion."

And the 33-year-old star enjoys the "playfulness" of finding a character through their wardrobe and then letting that overspill into influencing her red carpet wear.

She said: "I think there's a playfulness that comes with characters, and particularly at the start of a job, you'll spend a good week going in for fittings and trying different things on.

"I like being surprised by outfits, because some things can look a certain way on and off your body. I've really appreciated feeding that kind of playfulness from acting and creating a character, into fashion and red carpet looks and just being like, 'If I wear this massive red dress, how do I feel? Who's this person?'

"I've actually learned to lean into that and bring [that character] onto the red carpet. That kind of feels like a superpower because it eases some kind of anxiety."
