A Fire and Emergency director is concerned for the entire country heading into summer

A Fire and Emergency director is concerned for the entire country heading into summer

Just over 300 hectares have burned since a blaze in Tongariro started yesterday - only a month after the last fire, which churned through three-thousand hectares of vegetation.

Operations Director Brendan Nally says conditions today are favourable, but significant fire weather's expected in parts of the North Island later this week.

He loves sun as much as anyone, but it's hot and windy with low humidity - that's when they get nervous.
