The Defence Force is looking at cutting further costs - even after more than 200 staff put their hand up for resignation

The Defence Force is looking at cutting further costs - even after more than 200 staff put their hand up for resignation

It's reviewing its current structure and processes to try and find operating savings.

More than 200 civilian staff have opted for voluntary redundancies as part of the cost-cutting drive - with further roles likely to be axed.

An NZDF spokesperson says they've also started disestablishing some vacant positions, managing leave liability and restricting civilian recruitment to essential positions only.
