Brittany Cartwright has had the "hardest year of [her] life" since splitting up with Jax Taylor

The 35-year-old reality star tied the knot with her 'Vanderpump Rules' co-star Jax, 45, in 2019 but she filed for divorce at the beginning of this year over "irreconcilable differences" and now she has insisted that she is just "trying to stay positive" despite the tough time that she has had

She told PageSix: "It's been very, very hard [and] probably the hardest year of my life. But, at the same time, I'm just trying to stay positive. I'm stepping into my own, so I feel a lot of strength, and a different me is starting to come out. I kind of enjoy that, as well."

Brittany - who has three-year-old son Cruz with Jax - was then asked if she "enjoyed" being single, and gave an enthusiastic response.

    She replied: "I mean, yeah!"

But Brtanny also stars on Bravo show 'The Valley', and revealed that her new life as a single woman will only documented to a certain degree in the upcoming second season.

She said: "Maybe a little bit, but I'm not, like, looking into that too much. I just got a lot going on right now."

Earlier this year, Jax also noted that this year had been the "hardest" since he initially found fame, as he struggled to be on camera amid his relationship woes and compared his emotions to how he felt when he lost his father.

He said: "In the 11 and a half years I've been on TV, this was by far the hardest year I've ever had to film [and] by far the hardest year of my life. Other than my father's death, this was by far up there. It was very, very hard."
