A man has been arrested following a hit and run in Auckland overnight

Emergency services were called to Railside Avenue in Henderson, just before 12.30 last night - the victim remains in hospital in a critical condition.

A 52-year-old is facing several charges including failing to stop and ascertain injury, careless driving causing injury and driving while forbidden - he will appear in Waitakere District Court on Monday.

Police would like to speak to witnesses and anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage.
