A look at safety in Nelson...in the wake of the death of police officer Lyn Fleming

She died after a car struck her and another officer on foot patrol early on New Year's day.

The man accused of killing her is next due in court next month, after being remanded in custody without plea.

A moment of silence is being held at a service in Nelson's cathedral today.

Nelson Deputy Mayor Rohan O'Neill Stevens says conversations will need to take place around safety in the city.
