    A large blaze has burnt through 11 hectares of scrub in the Far North's Awa-rua.

    A large blaze has burnt through 11 hectares of scrub in the Far North's Awa-rua.


    It started at about 12:30 this afternoon.

    The blaze has destroyed a derelict school.

    About 50 firefighters are working to contain the blaze and a helicopter is attacking it from the sky.
