A new funding proposal from Pharmac could bring a big shift in the way some cancer patients are treated

A new funding proposal from Pharmac could bring a big shift in the way some cancer patients are treated

It's looking to fund five new medicines for multiple sclerosis, breast cancer, eye conditions, and lung cancer.

The treatments come in oral form and injection forms - replacing the need for some IV treatments.

Roche New Zealand Country Medical Director Dr Kerryn Symons says says funding the treatments would free up capacity in hospitals and clinics.

She says this isn't new technology or science, but they haven't been able to achieve this funding of these types of medicines in the past.
