Christchurch's wave of heat is knocking on the door of the city's record high for November

Christchurch's wave of heat is knocking on the door of the city's record high for November

The Garden city's feeling more like mid-January than spring, with an expected high of 30 degrees today as a northwester drags warm, dry air across Canterbury.

The city's November record is 32 degrees.

MetService Meteorologist Lewis Ferris says it's still hard to know what the summer will bring.

He says the trends look like there'll be fewer northwesterlies, so Christchurch might not see as many blazing hot summer afternoons.
