The demolition of a luxury house in Queenstown will begin today

The demolition of a luxury house in Queenstown will begin today

The Queenstown Lakes District Council bought the property and land of 516 Ladies Mile for 14-million-dollars in 2019, as a strategic investment.

It will be used to accommodate the growing need for sports fields and recreational space in the district.

Sport and recreation manager Simon Battrick says demolishing the building was the best choice after toxic mould was found in 2022.

It's expected to take six weeks.
