Christchurch police are acknowledging the bravery of the complainants - in the trial of serial rapist, John Hope Muchirahondo

Christchurch police are acknowledging the bravery of the complainants - in the trial of serial rapist, John Hope Muchirahondo

The 38-year-old's been found guilty on 11 charges of rape and six of sexual violation, over attacks on women in Christchurch and Auckland, between 2009 and 2021.

Detective Inspector Nicola Reeves says during the seven-week trial, their memories have been attacked - and attempts made to discredit them.

She says she hopes the verdicts bring some closure.

Muchirahondo has been remanded in custody until sentencing in December.
