Kevin Costner paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston on his 70th birthday on Saturday (18.01.25)

The 'Yellowstone' actor celebrated his milestone over the weekend and after a congratulatory message appeared on the account of his 'Bodyguard' co-star, which is managed by her estate, he reshared it on his Instagram Story and admitted he felt "lucky" to still be alive, almost 13 years after his friend passed away

He captioned the post: "This photo reminds me of how lucky I am to be getting another birthday. We lost such a light when we lost Whitney."

In the picture, Kevin could be seen standing next to Whitney - who drowned in her bath after taking cocaine - and hairstylist Ellin LaVar.

Whitney's estate had captioned the post: "Happy birthday to Kevin Costner! A behind the scenes photo from The Bodyguard with Kevin, Whitney and Ellin LaVar, Whitney's hairstylist for the film."

The 'Dances with Wolves' actor also marked his birthday by sharing a childhood photo in which he was dressed as a cowboy.

He captioned the Instagram post: "Thank you guys for the birthday wishes.

"If you can believe it, this is me. I was chasing the cowboy life just about as soon as I could walk, and here I am doing it still.

"Here's to another year of keeping our sights set on our dreams."

Kevin previously paid tribute to Whitney at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2022, which took place around the 10th anniversary of her passing.

Speaking to People and Entertainment Weekly on the Red Carpet, he said: "When movies are working at their very best, they're about moments and images that you'll never ever forget."

Referring to her cover of 'I Will Always Love You', he added: "I don't think we'll ever forget when that little song came out, that she just blew up. She sang the first part of it a cappella and musically the world was never the same.

"We have a moment of her in that movie we'll never ever forget that and I think that when movies are working at their best, that's what can happen."
