    Heavy rains are set to continue in central and north Queensland after near-record flooding inundated towns and required defence force assistance


    The weather bureau has issued severe weather warnings -- with rainfall totals up to and exceeding 250-millimetres forecast for some areas.

    More rain is expected today and into early next week.
