Mel B's wedding was a "traditional" affair

The Spice Girls star tied the knot with hairdresser Rory McPhee earlier this month and the ceremony at St Paul's Cathedral has been likened to a "royal wedding"

A source told HELLO! magazine: "It was like a royal wedding as there were so many people waiting outside, and it was all very warm, very establishment, very traditional; there is an aspect of Melanie that is very traditional."

Mel and Rory were both reduced to tears as they exchanged their vows at the ceremony that was attended by a mixture of family and friends.

The source said: "Melanie was calm but also emotional all day.

"She cried in the church when they were saying vows, as did Rory. The atmosphere was really lovely and warm, very happy.

"There was a mix of family and friends from years gone by, people from charities she has worked with, members of her hair and make-up teams and some of the dancers from the recent Spice Girls tours."

Mel, 50, was said to have been delighted with how the ceremony panned out.

The insider explained: "It all went really smoothly.

"Melanie was telling everyone how she was so happy and was just mingling and mixing with people, trying to say hello to everyone. It was just a really beautiful day."

Emma Bunton was the only member of the Spice Girls to attend the wedding on July 5 but Melanie C took to social media to reveal that she was "beyond gutted" to have missed out.

The 51-year-old singer wrote: "So so happy for you both and beyond gutted I couldn't be there. Excited to celebrate with you really soon! Yippee! (sic)"

Victoria Beckham was also absent from the ceremony but took to social media in support of her bandmate - who will enjoy a second wedding with Rory in Morocco later this summer.

She posted on Instagram: "Congratulations @officalmelb @rorymcphee on your special day! I couldn't be more excited for you both and wish you a lifetime of happiness! kisses xx (sic)"

In a separate upload, the singer-turned-fashion designer described Rory as a "very lucky man".

Victoria said: "Sending love to you @officialmelb! @rorymcphee is a very lucky man! xx (sic)"
