Rail Minister Winston Peters and Regional Development Minister Shane Jones have announced a collaboration between Z Energy and Channel Infrastructure will supply jet fuel to Auckland Airport.

The Government say it's also closer to procuring a dry-dock for Northport.

Peter says it could help exporters and bring international customers.

Cabinet will also be considering plans for turning the area into a "Special Economic Zone".
