The Prime Minister says councils need appropriate plans for managing water

Councils must submit water services delivery plans to Internal Affairs by September 3.

Chris Luxon says most councils are getting there with their plans.

He says Auckland Council separating Watercare from its balance sheet was an example of the system working well.

Luxon says that left council 800 million dollars it could spend on other infrastructure.
