Reassurance from Police, that there are systems in place for people worried about their child's safety

Reassurance from Police, that there are systems in place for people worried about their child's safety

It follows a Coroner's criticism of Police and Oranga Tamariki for ignoring warnings about 10 month-old CJ White - murdered by his meth-addicted father in 2019.

His mother tried through several agencies to have him returned to her care.

Tasman District Commander, Superintendent Tracey Thompson says a child protection protocol with Oranga Tamariki was introduced in 2021.

She says they're working more closely together in child safety, completing joint safety and response plans overseen by the Detective Inspector in the district.
